So when you see their products on supermarkets or cosmetics shelves, waste no time in swiping your card. So my skin was becoming dry and chapped due to the cold weather, which I searched for a moisturizer that would protect and hydrate my skin.
I got Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer. Though my skin is not particularly dry but to counterbalance the loss of moisture it has already gone through I ordered the extra dry skin variation. This lotion is very recommendable if your sole aim is to tackle dry skin. The lotion really moisture my skin and maintained my skin tone.

It is packaged in a tall, sleek bottle with a press-down nozzle as seen in the picture below, just like other Jergens products. The bottle has writing in black and amber on an off-white background. Even though the bottle is accident- and spill-proof, its size makes it difficult to fit into a handbag. The nicest part is that the press-down nozzle makes it simpler to transfer the contents—something I usually do—to a travel-friendly container. I transfer a portion of the contents to an empty bottle that is portable and uses it while on the go whenever I have to travel.
The moisturizer has a semi-thick viscosity and is white in hue. I had anticipated that the consistency would make it difficult to apply and take longer for the product to permeate into the skin, but thankfully, none of these two are hindered by the consistency. It quickly penetrates the skin and slides on with ease. It also doesn’t make the skin oily—the only residue it leaves behind is the amazing scent.

It contains Vitamins C, E & B5, which are quite beneficial for the skin. Plus, the hydralucence blend adds an illuminating effect that looks decent and gives a healthy look. It keeps the skin moisturized and reduces the flakiness immediately. Though on my skin it could not lock the moisture for up to 48 hours (as claimed)the maximum duration for which it keeps my skin moisturized are 6-7 hours, after which I need to reapply it again.
I apply it once in the morning (after shower) and before going to bed. With these two applications it keeps my skin perfectly moisturized. Now, my skin feels less flaky and hydrated.

Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion Side Effects
In March 2022 the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) notified the public that Kao USA Inc. is voluntarily recalling Jergens Ultra Healing Moistirizer. Kao USA Inc. is asking consumers to check their Jergens® Ultra Healing Moisturizer 3 oz and 10 oz products to determine if it is part of a voluntary recall of the product.
The recall was due to the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae, a bacterium which typically poses little medical risk to healthy people, but those with certain health problems, including weakened immune systems, could be more susceptible to infections.
So during that period, some people were reporting some disturbing side effects they got from using jergens ultra healing lotion, which includes:
- Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Signs of skin infection like oozing, heat, swelling, redness, or pain.
- Bleeding that is not normal from the affected part.
- Fever.
But, I think the producers of this product have corrected that defects. As long as I remember, I haben’t heard anyone complain of the above side effects since 2022 ending till now.

After taking your bath or shower, press into your palm and rub your both palms together, then massage on your body thoroughly. Apply Jergens Ultra Healing Dry Skin Moisturizer twice a day – once in the morning and once before bed to achieve maximum result.

Yes, this lotion is very superb for the face, especially if you’re having dry face. This lotion will heal in moisturizing your face very well.
Does Jergens Ultra Healing Lightens Skin
Actually, the primary work of this lotion is to moisturize and that’s exactly what it did, when I tried it out myself. The lotion didn’t lighten or whiten my skin complexion but rather I discovered that it maintained it rather than uttering my skin tone, which I like it for that.

For my flaky skin, Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer works great overall. I enjoy storing large moisturizer bottles because they are easy to travel with and have a long shelf life. I enjoy how quickly it absorbs and spreads into the skin. With regular use, my skin has significantly improved. It appears less flaky and more moisturized now.
