CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion a simple, fragrance-free and gentle moisturiser that packs in hydration power without feeling heavy on the skin.
Honestly, I can’t handle my skin. I have really dry spots one minute and acne the next—well, most of the time. My skin is sensitive and problematic, so I needed a daily moisturizer that would be mild, effective, and not clog my pores. That’s exactly what drew me in to the Cerave Moisturising Lotion.
This inexpensive skincare essential is talked about what seems like a hundred times a day in the Instagram skincare community as well as on Reddit’s SkincareAddiction forum (PSA: If you’re looking to enhance your skincare game, that’s where you need to be). It appeared that even people with the most sensitive skin types were praising it as their preferred daily moisturizer. As usual, I caved in to the excitement and here I am, writing up a review after one bottle.
Nevertheless, continue reading to learn my thoughts on the texture, moisturizing ability, and cost of this Cerave holy grail, as well as whether or not I plan to repurchase.

Review of Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
I like this moisturiser, so don’t worry if you can’t be bothered to read the entire review—I get it. A great deal. That says a lot because I’ve never actually found a moisturizer that I like all that much.

The consistency and texture
The Cerave Moisturizer is a pale, cream-colored product. It is simple to apply and distributes over the face really smoothly, so you don’t actually need much. Once you give it a minute or so to fully soak, it feels incredibly light on the skin. Although it leaves the skin feeling hydrated, it doesn’t look or feel oily.

The Outcomes After I Tried It Out
I use tretinoin to manage my hormonal acne that came back after taking Accutane. Since retinoin may be somewhat drying, I had a hard time finding a moisturizer that would reduce my tightness and dry areas without making me feel greasy.
I’ve been using the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion and it’s been great! It has a very light texture, but it has a lot of moisturizing power.
Using it for a few nights caused my tretinoin-related dry patches to completely disappear. My skin feels balanced and hydrated when I use this every morning and evening. I absolutely adore this product’s gentleness. Because of my sensitivity, using the wrong products can quickly make my skin appear red and irritated. Thank goodness, the Cerave Moisturizer soothes my skin and doesn’t increase its redness in the slightest.
You will adore this if you’re searching for a lightweight yet incredibly moisturizing moisturizer. On the other hand, if you’re searching for something that leaves a dewy sheen and feels rich, it may not seem sufficient to you. If you’re in the second group, you should try the thicker Cerave Moisturizing Cream.

The Aroma
Fragrance-free, the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion smells like nothing at all. Absolutely nothing. Since fragrance/perfume is, in my opinion, an unneeded and possibly annoying addition to skincare products, I truly appreciate this. However, this product probably isn’t for you if you really love a luxurious or aromatic scent.
The Container
The huge white pump bottle bearing the blue Cerave label holds the Cerave Moisturising Lotion. Just so you know, the large container size of this product is also appropriate for use as a body lotion. The container is not really opulent or elegant, but who really cares when the result is this amazing? The pump has a useful twist-to-shut feature (I’m sure there’s a technical term for that, but I’m not familiar with it), and I haven’t had any issues with it.
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion Good For, Bad For…
I believe this is a fantastic option for most skin types, even though Cerave obviously pitches this product towards dry and sensitive skin types. It will maintain your skin supple and moisturized without irritating it if you have reactive or dry skin.
Even with oily or mixed skin, you need use a decent daily moisturizer. If you neglect it, your skin may overproduce sebum as a means of compensating, which could cause your skin that is much shinier. A nice option is the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion because it is mild, absorbs fast, and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy or sticky.
And believe me when I say that this moisturizer is acne-friendly—I’m a gal who gets acne a lot. It is oil-free, lightweight, and hasn’t blocked my pores in the slightest. In addition, I believe that because it is so nourishing, my skin heals from breakouts more quickly. If you’re currently having acne problems (sending love!).
If you have very dry skin or are searching for a moisturizer that will give your skin a noticeable glow, this might not be the best choice for you. This one feels not particularly rich, even if it moisturises nicely. Perhaps the Cerave Moisturising Cream (in the tub) is a better option for you.

Ingredients In Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
AQUA / WATER / EAU, GLYCERIN, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CETYL ALCOHOL, CARBOMER, DIMETHICONE, CETEARETH-20, BEHENTRIMONIUM METHOSULFATE, METHYLPARABEN, SODIUM LAUROYL LACTYLATE, CHOLESTEROL, DISODIUM EDTA, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, PROPYLPARABEN, HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID, PHYTOSPHINGOSINE, XANTHAN GUM, POLYSORBATE 20, POLYGLYCERYL-3 DIISOSTEARATE
I added these components to my cosdna, and Polyglyceryl-3-Diisostearate was the only one that worried me. On a comedogenic scale of 0 to 5, this emulsifier is rated as a 4. It is incredibly little, as indicated by the fact that it is at the very end of the components list. I have extremely acne-prone skin, but Cerave claims their lotion doesn’t clog pores, and I haven’t experienced any issues with it. However, in the event that you discover that the Cerave Moisturiser breaks you out, this might be the culprit.
How To Use Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
For optimal effects, cleanse, apply any hydrating or moisturizing serum on damp skin, and then moisturize right away. Why? Because moisturizing products work best to help seal in hydration when applied when skin is still damp.
I usually utilize my active components in the evening and start every morning with this easy hydration routine that I find to be quite effective:
- Double cleanse with Cerave Hydrating Cleanser.
- If I’ve left it too long and my skin is dry, I’ll spritz with Avene ThermalE Spring Water before moving onto step 3.
- Apply a generous amount of Hyaluronic Acid serum to my damp skin.
- Immediately follow with the Cerave Moisturising Lotion to lock in the hydration.
- Apply SPF (my current favourite is La Roche Posay Anthelios).
